↕️ Sort Text Lines

Sort any list of lines alphabetically (A–Z or Z–A) or by line length.

About this Sort Text Lines

This line sorter tidies any list — names, words, products, to-dos — into a clean order. Sort A to Z for directories and glossaries, Z to A for reverse order, or by length to find your shortest and longest entries at a glance. Blank lines are dropped automatically and sorting ignores capital letters.

How to use it

  1. Paste your list, one item per line.
  2. Choose Sort A → Z, Sort Z → A, or Sort by length.
  3. Read the ordered list in the result box.
  4. Copy it into your document, spreadsheet or app.

Example

The lines banana, apple, kiwi, cherry sort A → Z into apple, banana, cherry, kiwi — and by length into kiwi, apple, banana, cherry.

Frequently asked questions

Does sorting ignore capital letters?

Yes. 'Banana' and 'banana' are treated alike, so capitals never push a line out of its natural place.

What happens to empty lines?

They are removed before sorting, so the result is a clean list with no gaps.
